Horned Owl

hornedowl.jpg

Here is a pic of a Horned Owl I took at a friends home.  She rehabilitates birds and releases them back into the wild.  She does remarkable work and it is great to see these guys up close like this.  I am working on some promotional pieces for sale that will help the organization.  More on that in a few days.  Enjoy the pic.

Flights are all booked!

Well, after several days of emailing, calling and begging, Kevin found us a way to get to McNeil.  It seems that only two outfitters are flying into McNeil this year and it was tough to get a seat on the plane.  We had contacted Jill at Beluga air and we talked to the superintendent at McNeil and worked out that two of us would get to fly in a day earlier that the permit allowed.  This means Lucus and I will fly in a day early and Kevin will join us on the day the permit was for.  Lucus and I get an extra day around camp, so we will use that time to photograph the fox and other critters around camp.  Our bear viewing is only for the dates listed, so it does not get us any extra days with the bears, but it will be nice to be there the extra days.

Tried on my new hip waders and they are nice.  Picked the up at Cabelas for around $40 and they are lug feet, insulated and are light weight compared to the ones I took last time.  The upper part of the boot is made of waterproof nylon and is very light weight.  I will post some pics of them in a few days.  Now it's time to order the rest of the items I will need.
